What is the AVAS®?
The job of the AVAS® is to be implanted in a patient and provide repeatable and easy access to a patient’s arteries. This allows clinicians to isolate a cancerous organ from the rest of the body. Once in isolation, the clinician can then target that organ with high concentrations of anti-cancer agents such as chemotherapy. Currently, clinicians are treating patients who have secondary cancer in the liver. The AVAS® is approved for use in Europe and Australia.
